- 1/2 cup or so chopped onion
- 1 or 2 cloves garlic (I use the minced garlic in a jar)
- head of cabbage, cut into strips
- salt and pepper to taste
Saute the onions and garlic in a little bit of olive oil. (I recently bought an olive oil spray bottle that I love. It takes very little oil to spray the pan, cutting down greatly on the fat and calories. I let the pan heat for a couple of minutes, spray, then add the onions and garlic.) Once the onions are slightly translucent, add enough water to lightly cover the bottom of the pan and add cabbage. Salt and pepper to taste. (I don't particularly like pepper, but I forgot to add it during cooking the last time I made this and the cabbage wasn't as good, so experiment with the pepper, even if you don't normally like it.) Cover and let the cabbage cook down.
You can stir every so often if you like or just let the cabbage and onions caramelize on the bottom of the pan (though it may stick a bit).
